I’ve recently seen (more than a few) people distributing their Mods folders wholesale, including the work of many creators who have policies that specifically prohibit re-uploading their content—not to mention those creators who may not have minded the re-uploading if the person had bothered to even mention a link to the original source. Worse, it seems like it’s presented as a charitable and friendly thing to do; the sentiment is almost always “now your game can look just like mine.” Besides the obviously misplaced sense of ownership, it just seems to me that ignoring the few simple conditions attached to freely shared content is a pretty poor way of showing your appreciation.
(Old Lady Grantham gif notwithstanding, I’m really not trying to provoke or guilt trip anyone. But I do think it’s important.)
