you know like being a tumblr user for like. 8 years this hellsite has gone through so many changes and i always forget them bc we end up adapting but this is like one of those changes that doesn’t only hit individual blogs but rather the communities as a whole who are generally good and don’t deserve to be banned or flagged or whatever the hell it is.

i’m like jaded about it at this point but i really think they’ll try to fix things to not be as harsh (much like the whole safe mode fiasco from earlier) but if they don’t i just wanna say a giant thanks to lana for all your hard work over the years in both the resources you provided us and basically being the glue in our simblr community…and thanks to the community itself for u know. being a great community

Hellfire aside, remember that your mental health is much more important than this site

If this whole situation is stressing you out – close the app, close the tab and breath. Leave for a walk, read a book, play a game – don’t look at everyone freaking out if it has a bad influence on you. If you’re afraid you miss something important ask a friend to update you on the situation.

This is not the end of the world and I’m sure a lot of people will stay here. We’ll see how it all goes and we’ll do this together. Don’t overwhelm yourself. You’re doing amazing, sweetie ❤️💕

This is also a message to all blocked people, no matter why they were blocked – if someone shares their other, even personal, accounts, you have no right to go after them, mail them to get the access to their WordPress, follow from fake accounts on Twitter and even add them on Discord. This is not your place and such behavior is very, very triggering and is a red flag.

could you link us to that post about how to backup once blog, please? (I tru to use the search tool but nothing appears, sorry)

rex-luscus:

Sure, here are the steps:

  1. Go to “Settings” in the account menu.
  2. In the sidebar where it says “Blogs,” click on the blog you want to back up.
  3. You’ll see the page that lets you edit the appearance of the blog, etc. At the bottom, you should see a button that says “Export blog.” Click that.
  4. Tumblr will now take a shitload of time to create the backup (hours, or maybe even days if your blog has a ton of media posts) but eventually it’ll send you a link to download the backup. You don’t have to keep your browser open for that time, by the way.
  5. Once you’ve got the link, click it and download! It should give you a ZIP file with a folder of HTML files for the posts and a folder for the media files.

PLEASE REBLOG

all-harlows-eve:

I’ve created a google doc so we can keep track of everyone’s discord, twitter, and/or wordpress so everyone can check the doc and see where their favourite simblrs are going in case this tumblr thing doesn’t clear up. In the google doc, feel free to comment your username, discord, twitter, and/or wordpress and I’ll add you into the doc!

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1_65UqhshhHsdGDLapVXkuf9mB7lbJgAKlOhZBhSg2Nc/edit?usp=sharing

I think it would be best if we make an individual place to see all simblrs, similar to the doc for WMS recolours and such. So please reblog this so we can get the word out

Anyway the last point I have to make here is that even if tumblr breaks under the algorithm (almost certain if they don’t back out of using it) and/or everybody leaves… I don’t have anywhere else to go or post things

people like to joke about it being bad, but I legitimately really like Tumblr. it actually feels like a blogging platform in a world where facebook and twitter are active political weapons that manipulate us elections. i don’t feel like i’m baring myself to content i don’t want to see here, or having to engage with a popularity-focused culture. the content isn’t sorted to influence you or trick you. it’s a bunch of people being themselves on their own terms. it’s oldnet.

yes, i do use other websites, but i’m not interested in posting personal things to any of them. this was a place i had control over and i’ll stay with it until i can’t. and when that happens there’ll be nothing left.

this is pretty much how i feel. i don’t want to go back to using LJ or something like it.

Honestly we just need tumblr 2.0 if it really gets to that point

Warning – posts out of order when you flag your content!

Hey, All!

Just wanted to give a quick PSA for anyone requesting review of their incorrectly tagged NSFW posts!

Once you have your posts “reinstated”, they jump to the top of your blog out of order from their original place in the queue or date that you posted them on.

I’m going to stop flagging my posts now to prevent this, so apologies to readers of my legacy for the posts being out of order!

@staff are you serious…?

Oh god could this even get worse

christ, i’ve already went through and reviewed a bunch of my posts…. WHAT THE FUCKL TUMBLR I’M SO MAD

IM REALLY BOUT TO CRY OVER LANA ON THIS FUCKING TIMELINE BITCH IM GONNA MISS HER SO MUCH

LANA HAS DONE SO MUCH FOR THIS DAMN COMMUNITY AND SHE DIDNT HAVE TO DO SHIT FOR US, WHEN MYSIMS4BLOG DIED SHE ROSE BITCH SHE TOOK THAT TORCH

on a serious note she literally has such a huge impact on posts like even if a lesser known simblr posts cc, she reblogs it and gives them a reach they would have never gotten without her. i’ve gained so much love and feedback from her followers which i would have never gotten without her reblogs deadass. like it would have taken much longer and way more people to reblog my cc than just her to gain her kind of reach,,, i feel so bad for the smaller creators who wont get her exposure and sit in the shitholes that are tumblr tag functions with -4857 notes because lana is gone,,, fuck

and im not saying people cant get notes on their own or earn their own reblogs, but i owe a shit ton to lana’s reblogs because they gain a reach that i wouldn’t be able to gain that fast on my own,, plus i find so many creators i love through her reblogs,,, thats fucking reach!!!!!!!!!

So let me see if I understood it correctly:

thepathofnevermore:

  • Facebook is dispersive as fuck to post sims-related stuff and especially stories. Also, you can’t really post any kind of nudity on there, as even something as innocent as breastfeeding will be flagged as “porn”;
  • Instagram is about as dispersive as Facebook for sims-related stuff, it kind of hides your post if you dare to include external links in the photo descriptions (hence it can not be used for sims downloads) and is also obsessed with avoiding nudity;
  • Twitter is basically a big no-no if you want to write a post that is longer than two lines;
  • Livejournal will ban you if you post anything LGBT related;
  • If you’re living in Europe, making a WordPress account might get you a 20 million euros fine if you don’t set up a proper privacy policy, thanks to the awesome GDPR laws;
  • Same goes for pretty much any other blogging platform;

…And now Tumblr is going to censor all “adult blogs”, but at the same time it is flagging pretty much ALL BLOG POSTS as “adult posts” because their filters suck and they can’t be bothered to fix them. And now we have to either delete our completely innocent posts THEY flagged as “NSFW” or wait for their (shitty) support to review a million posts in two weeks to get them back on our blogs.

All while the EU is about to go ahead with Article 13 that is going to censor all sorts of fanart, fanfiction, tribute music, movie reviews and anything that might contain anything that is even remotely related to copyrighted content.

…Please, tell me how all of this is supposed to help our “freedom of expression”, again?

P.S.: I’m in the process of moving the chapters of The Emergency Coven to Blogger, since so far it seems to be the only blogging platform that comes with an already-made GDPR compliant privacy policy. Only the first four chapters have been uploaded so far. I will try to upload the rest in the next days, and then start thinking of a possible alternative place to upload my files as well. Seriously, Tumblr, this was the last straw.
